Rotary International is just that, a worldwide organization. With 32,000 clubs in more than 200 countries, Rotary's reach is phenomonial. Virtually anywhere you go in the world, you will find a local Rotary club going about placing the less fortunate in front of their own needs. Actually, Rotary was founded in Chicago in 1905, the world's first service organization.
Rotarians are business and professional leaders, retired citizens wanting to "give back" and all of them are interested in high ethical standards and in building goodwill and peace around the world. Rotarians carry out a variety of service projects that relate to critical humanitarian needs. Clean water, literacy, health, eradication of hunger, poverty, and pollution are some of the most important needs.
