Our club has been serving Louisa County since 1938. From the earliest days in Louisa, club members have been concerned with improving the life and development of Louisa’s youth and chil
dren.
Over the past 70 years, our club has done things such as provide coats and shoes for children; scholarships for graduating seniors at the high school; support for the high school INTERACT Club, a group of student leaders who perform community service projects, provide support to the “Santa Council”; and other places where there is a need.
In the past few years, our club has championed the cause of increased literacy for our children. The club donates children’s books to the Louisa Library; a “book for babies” program where mothers of newborns are given a book at the Louisa Health Clinic to read to their child. The club recently gave a dictionary to every third grader in Louisa County, every teacher, and every private and home schooled third grade child. (see photo, right) This popular program will be expanded to include every 3rd, 4th, and 5th grader in Louisa.
